Any time I craved a cigarette, I simply took a long slow deep breath, filling my belly and lungs with air, then I would hold it for a few seconds, and very slowly exhale all the air out of my body. I would repeat the practice five or six times, and voila, the cravings would be gone.  Just knowing that I had this breathing technique to get me through each craving, gave me the confidence I needed to finally beat the habit.

And yes, I quit smoking without gaining weight. In fact, six months later I was fitter, leaner, and healthier because I started working out, doing yoga, etc. Quitting was the best decision I ever made.
